The following email went to a group of Carolina fans last week.
What bad fortune for a college student and member of the Carolina
family.

Hello to All,
Blue Heaven tailgaters, we need your help. CD and Barbara Ann's
grandson was at college 2 weeks ago in Albany, NY (freshman) when
his apartment caught fire and he lost everything - college books,
clothes, truck, etc. He jumped into his truck to move it when a
police officer pulled him out, just prior to the building collapsing
on his truck. We would like to take up a collection to help him
replace his college books, so he can continue on with school. We
are asking for everyone to consider making a donation. We would
like to reach $600 dollars to replace his books. Please consider
helping one of our fellow CAROLINA family members. We will have a
bucket out for donations.
Call me at home with questions. 910-***-****.
Go Heels!!!
Barbara
I was touched with this initiative and was more than happy to help, especially
since I tailgate with these Carolina fans. After the Maryland game last Saturday
I asked Barbara to let me know how the donations turned out.
The next email
has the results.

I wanted to take a moment and share with you that you are a great
group of people to be affiliated with!!!!! We came together as a
group, when one of our fellow Tar Heel family members were in need.
We collected a total of $1200.00 in cash and gift cards to give to
Nicholas Jones. A majority of you have never met Nicholas Jones.
You would really like him, a good kid with good values. Maybe we
can get him to a tailgate in the future. Thank you for making a
difference in a college freshman's life!
God Bless and Go Heels!!!
Barbara
Barbara, thank you for organizing this helpful fund raiser.
Yes, the Carolina family sticks together. If any readers would
like to make a donation for this young man, email
the Ram Man and I
will pass your contact information along to Barbara. Nicholas
was lucky to escape with his life. Will you help him get back
on track with his life?
