The winning combination!
Raleigh _  To say Ron Curry has had a difficult life the past 4 years is a gross understatement.  And I won't get into any of that here.  But he continues to prove that he's loyal to his Tar Heel teammates and Carolina.

Earlier this season John Bunting has called him a warrior.  After the Maryland game I spoke with Ron and told him to keep his head up and just do what he could to help the team.  Even with the frustration of defeat that day, he said "Thanks, I will."

Ron came back to Chapel Hill Monday night and Bunting has made his assessment. "He is anxious to play.  I am anxious to play him."  I'm with you, Beast.  And I'm anxious to see him on the field again.

Show 'em, Ron!

Ron Curry will start against the Dookies and I think that is fitting.  In my mind Ron never really lost his starting job.  But in some of my articles I have blasted him for various reasons.  Suffice it to say that fans are a strange, fickle breed.  And being a wild, die-hard Carolina fan, I want to see wild, passionate play every down.  I want to see focus for 60 minutes.

This season has been interesting.  We've played a difficult schedule and have done remarkably well.  We've had an emotional roller coaster ride for sure.  Losing the first 3 games wasn't too difficult to take, especially looking at Maryland's record.  The past 2 games have been heart-breaking losses.

The 5 game win streak was as high as I've been in a long time.  I feel fortunate to have attended the Florida State and Clemson games.  Those 2 games raised fan expectations.  The avid Carolina fans are addicted.  We want more.

What was going on during the 5 game streak.  Ron and Slinger were rotating at the quarterback position.  That wasn't there for the first 3 games nor the last 2.  That proved to be the winning factor... the winning combination.

I believe the Heels are ready to regroup and blast the Dookies and SMU.  And we have our last 2 games at home in Kenan.  I hope the Carolina fans are ready to support them, and will turn out for the games in record numbers.  If we want to have a winning team of players, then we must develop a winning team of Carolina fans too.

Go Heels!
