Confidence is still the word

Raleigh__  This article is depressing to me and will be to you as well.  Why?  Cause the Semi-holes from Half-ass U. will kick our ass tomorrow.

There's not much to say about this game.  My bottom line is when will Bobby call off the dogs.  Just in case anyone remembers our game with the Semi-holes last year, we waxed them to the tune of 41 - 9.  You have to know that that was a bitter pill to swallow.  And the Heels crammed it down their throats.  Go Heels!

Tomorrow FSU will field a team that probably couldn't beat anyone in the Top 10... maybe Top 20.  But we're not even close to that kind of competition this year.

There's no need to discuss any X's or O's.  We are young, beat up, and have no on the field leadership.  That has been, in my opinion, the greatest factor for a season gone from bad to worse.  There's just no one on the field to kick ass and take names.  Who has gotten in their teammates face and raised hell?

Maybe Darian Durant did that before he went down.  But he's now standing on the sidelines.  He has the headset on, but that's about all he can contribute from this point on.  As an under classman he just doesn't have the clout to coach Stephens without pads on.  And since Slinger is a gamer, he mostly shoots from the hip.  Yes, he can run the team and make plays, but when things break down the gamer instincts make a difference.

Tomorrow C. J. Stephens will see a game speed that he hasn't seen before.  At best I am hopeful that he just gets off some passes that Sam Aiken can run down.  That should be good for moving the chains a little, and hopefully good for one touchdown.  But I'm not betting the farm on that possibility.

Maybe our best chance to score some points will be Dan Orner.  I'm hoping that we'll get close enough a couple of times for him to at least score 6 points.  But that boils down to opportunity and Dan hasn't had much of that lately.

FSU will rely on their 4th and 5th string tailbacks due to injuries.  But you know what?  Those guys could probably start for most teams in the ACC, if not get considerable touches.  That will be a key.  But based on past performance, their offensive line should smash our defense directly in the mouth.

What good do I think we will see in our boys in Carolina blue?  Well, besides just running on the field at the start of the game, I don't anticipate much.  I've talked to a number of our players this season.  And my message has been to just pick your ass up for the next play.  Play with pride.  Keep up the hard work and leave it all on the field.

When will Bobby think it's been enough?  Hard to say because you just can't tell your team to let up even when you're playing 3rd team.  But I'm expecting to see our Heels make a good fight and make the Semi-holes focus early in the game.  I'm already depressed and will be more tomorrow.  I hate to even think this, but have to go with...  Carolina 6 - Florida State 52.

Go Heels!
