Carolina
vs. Dook prediction
Raleigh__
Man, I'm a day late and another dollar short. What do I predict? I'm predicting that the Carolina fans at Wallace Wade Stadium tomorrow will out-number the Dookies. And you will find a number of Carolina tailgate parties having much more fun than the Dookies will. How can I make that assumption? It's a simple hypothesis. Dook is a basketball school, pure and simple. The times I've tailgated there, I've seen a few pockets of their fans attempting the tailgate scene. Care for a laugh other than reading the funny papers? Then you should do a drive by. They try, but always come up short. More and more, Carolina fans are traveling to the football games. I've witnessed an increase in numbers over the past 5 years. And the type of Carolina fan that travels will bring the heat too. We have a fun time with the pre-game tailgate and definitely get our game faces on. And then during the game we are becoming more of a participant than spectator. This is a beginning.
So Ram Man, beginning of what? Can't you remember what John "the Beast" Bunting has told us? I will be glad to remind you. The culture at Carolina for the revenue sports is making a changin' of the guards. And the culture Beast is addressing is all about football... Carolina Football. And it's about passion and bringing the heat. In a bad down year for Carolina football, I've been very proud of our fans. We've had great crowds in Kenan. And we've had a good following on the road based on past standards. The message is getting through. If you're a Carolina fan and go to the games, you'd better participate. Especially at home we need to give our boys a home field advantage. Yes, Carolina definitely is a Women's Soccer school. The only thing I need to point out is the number of NCAA Championships won. Can you believe there are 17 trophies at Carolina for our women kicking the little round ball better than anyone else in the NCAA? That's unmatched by anyone, anywhere. Yes we have a pretty good basketball program, but the 4 national championships (93, 82, 57, 24) are but 25% of what the soccer team has done. And soccer is still kicking some serious ass! Football will be there! Or possibly you haven't met the Beast yet. OK, back to tomorrow and football. What do I expect to see? I have no earthly idea. And anyone who's watched the Heels this fall will find themselves in the same boat. Our problems are well documented. But what gets my goose is that we can play so good at times. If we could only take those 8, 12, 16 minute stretches and do that for 45 to 55 minutes a game..... OK, let's hope better for next year. The Victory Bell is at stake. And I'll take that over the Carlyle Cup any day. So I can only hope that the Heels will really get their game faces on and keep it there until the final whistle against Dook. I have a sneaky suspicion that the Heels will ring the bell back home. But as far as predicting a victor and final score... Carolina ? - Dook ?. Go Heels!
