Bill and Melanie Span with Ram Man

Chapel Hill, NC __ We couldn't remember exactly when it was.  But after meeting on the Internet around 4 years ago, Bill Span and Ram Man finally have a chance to meet.  And I can thank Melanie for the opportunity.

Bill and Melanie live in the Seattle area and rarely make a trip to the east coast.  But there was a special occasion a week ago in Virginia Beach.  Bill and Melanie were married.  And they came back home to be with family and friends.

The pull of Chapel Hill was just too much.  Bill planned a party at He's Not Here for a chance to be with friends and former players once again.  Cathy and I were lucky enough to join the fun.

At the link I put together a photo gallery for enjoyment by all.  Roughly, in order of appearance, these are some of the former players that I could remember:  Brian Smith, Alan Caldwell, Ken Huff, Johnny Anderson, Ted Elkins and Ken Mack.  My apologies to those who were not named.  But Bill was running the tab and I couldn't let him off the hook.  That explains some of the out-of-focus pictures too.

What a great time - lots of laughs, lots of funny stories.  Michael Ray Voight was planning to make the trip, but was not able to come.  You were missed, Space Cowboy.  We need to get Bill back to Chapel Hill for a home game next season.  Can you imagine that tailgate party?

After several years of getting to know Bill and Melanie through e-mails and phone conversations, it was a pleasure to finally meet them in person.  They are special people and friends.  Best wishes for a long and happy life together!
