How sweet it is!
Game Stats
Raleigh _  You just gotta love it!  These young guns want to play the game... want to win.  And today, win they did.  Did somebody say Uconn was #6 in the country?  So what are we?

Maybe these Heels are growing up.  This game was not a total domination.  We had a great start.  But then we had our main weakness show - the youthful mental weakness.  And that is about all we can say about that.

Talent we have.  Experience we don't.  But this game was a great experience for a young team that has faced some early season adversity in losing Sean Mays to an injury.  With great coaching by Matt and an in-your-face attitude by our young players, this team still can make some noise this year.

Felton is definitely our leader.  He's doing a great job running the show.  McCants is definitely our main scoring threat.  And he lit up UConn for 27 today.  Manuel is definitely our defensive stopper.  He can continually keep our opponents' scorer off his game.  Williams is our surprise guy and the barometer of our team.  If he's having a good game, the team seems more in sync.

But the guy who is impressing me most is Byron Sanders.  This is a kid who's not gotten a lot of press.  And he's not had a lot of playing time until Mays was injured.  But he's making the most of the opportunity.  And he's growing by leaps and bounds every game.  In today's victory over UConn, the difference was the 35 minutes played by Byron.

All in all, I felt really good by games' end.  Not only that we won.  Not only that we kicked the #6 team in the nation right in the ass.  But we looked like a team.  We looked like a team that wanted to win.  And we looked like a team that would fight and do all the little things that are necessary to be a consistent winner.

I'm looking forward to the showdown with Maryland this Wednesday night.  And don't be surprised to see the Heels come away with a victory against another favored opponent.

Go Heels!
