Maryland got a double-double from senior forward LaRon Profit to end Florida State's season with a 93-69 win in the quarterfinals of the ACC Tournament at Charlotte Coliseum on Friday afternoon.
The Seminoles stayed in the game for the first ten minutes with good ball movement and an active defense that created turnovers, leading four times in the opening minutes, the last time at 8-7 three minutes into the game.
The score was still tied at 16-all, but Maryland slowly built an insurmountable lead from there, turning FSU turnovers into points, many of which came on highlight-reel dunks, many from Profit.
By halftime, the Terps led 42-30 but increased the lead to nineteen early in the second-half leading to a timeout by FSU coach Steve Robinson. Maryland star Steve Francis played just seven first-half minutes but scored five straight points to start the second-half when Maryland closed out the Seminoles.
From there, the game devolved into a turnover-fest. Maryland coach Gary Williams called off his pressure defense and emptied his bench, but the outcome had long since been decided.
