Game Recap
Chapel Hill _ It was a hard fought game on all fronts.  The Marshall team came into Kenan prepared to compete and win.  And the heralded Marshall fans show great support for their team.  But the Tar Heels and CarolinaFans had their game face on too!

I was disappointed in the late arrival of our fans.  But better late than never.  With an official count of 53,000 in attendance, Marshall fans probably had around 12,000.  It felt strange seeing all the green.  But the CarolinaFans were into the game and vocal.  The Heels seemed to feel our energy and rose to the occasion.

During the game I felt the defense was carrying the team again.  But after looking at the Box Score, I changed my mind.  Our offense came on strong especially late, and won the 4th quarter.  To me that was significant.  Down by 3 points, 9 - 6, through the 2nd and 3rd quarters, the Heels never gave up.

The offense got 25 first downs and a total of 434 yards.  What's good to see is the 142 yards rushing.  And Russell had 79 of them.  Will he be our next 1000 yard runner?  It's only Mike O'Cain's 4th game wearing light blue, but I think he shows improvement every game.  The Heels appear to be learning his play book and enjoying the execution.

For the 292 yards passing, 8 different receivers caught at least one pass.  Alge Crumpler finally had his number called.  He responded with 5 catches for 38 yards.  I'm getting more and more excited about how Carolina is mixing it up.  And this is actually a young team that will only get better.

Jeff Reed continues to give us a boost with the kicking game and putting points on the board.  Tonight he kicked 2 field goals and kept us in the game early on.  That 48-yarder was a beauty.  I still think he will kick a winning field goal for us before the season is over.  With Georgia Tech coming up next week, that could be the game we need him most.

Thank you Tar Heels for a great game!  And what fun it was tailgating in the Dean Dome parking lot.  I think we made history today.  With my laptop, digital phone and camera, I was able to upload and publish the fun as it happened.  Click here to view some die-hard CarolinaFans!  Another first at CarolinaFan.com....

Go Heels!
