Carolina
28 - Georgia Tech 42
September 30, 2000
Chapel Hill _ Damn!
That sums it up for me tonight in one word. Damn!
I predicted a Carolina
victory 27 - 20. And the O covered those points. What
happened? One huge mistake by special teams turned the tide in
a 28 - 28 game. And our defensive secondary didn't do the job
when it counted most. The little "yellow jackets"
should not have taken a victory from Kenan tonight.
This was a game the Heels
coulda... shoulda... won. Period. Up to this game I
placed more faith in the offense than they were capable of
producing. And I thought the defense was where it should be to
make a good team better. The special teams were great.
What happened to the D today?
Actually the Heels were
holding their own until the third quarter. Up to the fumble-rooskie
punt attempt , the Heels believed they would win. Then they
seemed to fall apart. I guess that's a sign of some young
talent that doesn't have enough experience. Believing is
critical and I hope like hell it continues to improve.
With just over 4 minutes
left in the game, I still believed. One quick strike
touchdown... 35 - 42. Then a heroic on side kick
recovery and we march down the field again. That's a scenario
we all hoped would happen. But it didn't happen. Will
this game offer motivation for the next opponent - NC State?
In the worst of times, we've always beaten State. Unless the
Heels suck it up and move forward, this year light blue will fade to
red. Ugh! Tune in 2 weeks from today.
At least we enjoyed the
Pre-game Live event again. Compare these pictures with the
Marshall tailgate. Do you recognize some familiar faces?
The top of page picture is a group of die-hard
CarolinaFans who attend
every game, including on the road. We're going to organize a
Carolina Caravan to away games in the future. Would you like
to join us? There are only 2 requirements: be a CarolinaFan
and fly light blue flags with us driving to the games. More
details will follow.
Keep the faith Heels! The CarolinaFans
are!
