Typically I tape the televised games, then rush home looking forward to watching the replay, win or lose. After returning home from Winston-Salem, I threw this tape away. We can be thankful that our players and coaches are fighters. We can be sure that they didn't put the game tape on the shelf and just forget about this game. They will continue to study our problems and look for solutions. We began the season with a young team. Due to injuries and an apparent notion of preparing for the future, we are seeing more true freshmen and others take the field for the first time. New starters, like Kyle Ralph #78, are a breathe of fresh air, and are showing spirit and fight. Our future looks bright. North Carolina OL Kyle Ralph: "Practice went well. I thought I personally played well. I was confident coming into the game that I knew my assignments and I was not nervous at all. In order to keep the flow of the team going the new guys have to step up and work their butts off. I've learned the system a lot better, since I've started this season, and the guys on the offensive line are great at communicating with me. Now I must step up physically, it's the most challenging part of an offensive linemen. North Carolina OG Jeb Terry: "After a defeat like this, we have no option but to fight. We got our backs against the walls, so we're going to come out fighting. The effort is there, and no one on this team is a quitter." The Tar Heels aren't quitters. And I hope Carolina fans won't be quitters either. Let's not mail in the next game. Our Heels will take the field next Saturday. And if they would ever need fan support, now is the time for us to be there for them and fill Kenan with enthusiasm and positive energy. Go Heels!
